This detached bungalow in a quiet spot in Highcliffe, with a dated orangery across the back, a warren of small rooms and cupboards, and a tired roof and brick exterior that made the place feel older than it was. Our clients didn’t want to move. They wanted this house brought properly up to date.

The orangery came down and a new extension went up in its place a bright family room with a roof lantern and sliding doors onto a new porcelain patio, plus a home office with its own door to the garden.

Inside, the cramped entrance hallway was reconfigured into a light, open entrance, and the space it freed up became a proper utility room. Taking a portion of the attached garage gave us just enough room to knock through and create an en-suite off the master bedroom. The family bathroom was stripped and refitted, and the kitchen re-designed creating a beautiful light and open space.

Outside, the roof was fully replaced, the solar panels removed and reinstalled, and the whole building rendered for a clean, modern finish with new windows, black guttering and a composite front door tying it together.

Seven months from start to handover. A home that looks and lives like a new build, on the footprint the family already loved.
